The Sizewell C MEH Alliance is responsible for delivering the bulk of piping, HVAC and Electrical (Phase 1) as well as to perform the installation of equipment on Site (Phase 2). As part of Phase 1, Delivery and Integration branch is responsible of preparing for Phase 2. This entails planning for construction, logistics and end to end schedule.

As a Graduate, you will support the preparation of construction and develop full sequence from procurement to installation. Your tasks may include:

Reviewing the sequence of Site activities per building (civil works, temporary works, installation, commissioning) aiming to define the conditions and timescales for the installation phase. Refer to best industrial practices to assume duration for different site activities.

Working with various disciplines (piping, electrical, ventilation) to capture their sequence for engineering and procurement. Identify maturity of inputs (e.g. design, supply chain) and related critical activities for the upstream sequence (up to delivery of items to Site)

Based on the 2 above mentioned inputs, develop the sequence for engineering, procurement and construction. Conduct iterative process to reach most suitable outcomes and work closely with all stakeholders to secure agreement. Provide regular updates to the Project with briefings and presentations.

Anticipate, manage and resolve issues throughout the development of the sequence. Identify risks and facilitate the resolution of all issues raised, develop and update the plan, and escalate any issues to the Head of Integration

As part of Phase 1, Delivery and Integration branch is responsible for managing a portfolio of Opportunities. Such opportunities encompass various disciplines (e.g. IT, digitalisation, manufacturing, welding, non-destructive testing, modularisation, topograph), they reflect best industrial practices and aim to deliver benefits to the project in Phase 2.

As a Graduate, you will support management of the opportunities portfolio as well as the development of specific opportunities. Your tasks will include:

Review best industrial practices to highlight opportunities benefits (quality, time and cost)

Gather data from Hinkley Point C and other projects to refine the potential scope for deployment (e.g. diameter, quality grade, type of material, wall thickness for orbital welding) taking cognisance of design criteria, safety case and layout.

Identify and assess potential options for implementation (e.g. building, room, type of supports, technology for 3D scan) and present your recommendations to the project

Liaise with relevant Subject Matter Experts to gather all inputs required to progress with opportunity assessment

Project Manager – Hold Point Manager

Overview

The Hold Point Manager (HPM) is responsible for ensuring the management of, and delivery of appropriate and adequate evidence to allow timely discharge of key hold point(s) owned by the SZC Civil Works Programme (CWP) in accordance with LC19 requirements in compliance with the Hold Point management process. This role is primarily for, but not limited to, the Concrete Pour Capability Demonstration and First Nuclear Safety Concrete Hold Points. This includes:

Preparing and presenting the Management of Expectations document to the Hold Point Panel
Project management and integration with other functions to deliver the right quality of evidence to programme for release of the hold point(s)
Expediting and collating the evidence required for the Hold Point Review Document
Maintaining evidence tracker(s) and presenting progress on a monthly basis
Presenting back to the Hold Point Panel to expedite the release of the Hold Point
Managing and engaging with key stakeholders to ensure timely release of the Hold Point

The HPM is a key role in ensuring the adequacy of evidence presented for release of hold points on the SZC construction site and will be instrumental in facilitating the Office for Nuclear Regulation’s flexible permissioning process where required.

Framework & Boundaries

Working with the construction teams and across the programmes, the Hold Point Manager is instrumental in ensuring that hold points are released in a timely manner to the required quality standards to allow construction to proceed.

The role will require them to have good interpersonal skills and be a skilled influencer across all levels of the business. The individual will be required to influence individuals at senior levels across different directorates of the SZC Project to produce the right quality deliverables.

The Hold Point Manager will be working within the Civil Work Alliance as an “Owner’s Participant”. The Civil Works Alliance is formed of 3 contractors and the Client (Sizewell C). The Owner’s Participant ensures that “best for project” decisions are made.

Principal Accountabilities, Activities and Decisions

Own and lead the timely delivery and release of defined hold points to the right quality standards.
Challenge the evidence presented across several topics and provide feedback on the adequacy of evidence provided.
Balance the demands of the business against delivery workload to optimise release of hold points to meet programme requirements.
Coach and mentor the wider project on the implementation of SZC arrangements for managing and successfully releasing hold points to support the continuation of construction and commissioning activities at SZC site.
Support the identified Hold Point Managers in leading presentations and justification of the evidence to the CWP, Hold Point Panel, and Regulators as appropriate.
Oversee the quality of evidence provided to manage and release identified tertiary hold points at SZC site.
Set the direction to allow timely and effective discharge of ONR’s flexible permissioning at SZC site.

Nuclear Safety Accountabilities

This Post will have nuclear safety responsibilities which could have an impact on nuclear safety through the activities that they perform. These are detailed in the Nuclear Baseline.

Dimensions

Accountable to the CWA Head of NI Delivery for delivery of hold points to the required quality and programme. This includes effective stakeholder engagement in the discharge of the hold points.
Responsible for the quality and effectiveness of the authoritative advice provided. This may be on technical areas of delivery, or non-technical areas such as adequacy of compliance with processes.
Required to drive and influence the performance of others within the project outside line management control to deliver to quality and programme.
Based between SZC London and Ipswich offices, and SZC Site with some flexibility to work remotely (as agreed).

Knowledge & Skills

Good knowledge and understanding of UK regulatory requirements and nuclear site licence compliance.
Ability to identify key internal and external stakeholders and decision makers, to influence delivery to the right quality on time across the project and wider SZC organisation

Construction Manager ( Night Shifts) (Leiston, GB, IP16 4EW)

Sizewell C’s business is to design, finance, construct, commission, operate, maintain, and eventually decommission the nuclear power plant and related infrastructure at Sizewell C in Suffolk. Overall, whilst the Company is in the construction phase, the Boards’ principal focus is on the development and construction of Sizewell C on time, on budget and to the highest quality and safety standards. The Company is maturing to meet all these requirements.

Sizewell C is economically regulated by OFGEM under the Regulated Asset Base (RAB) model similar to other UK electricity distribution networks and Thames Tideway.

Sizewell C construction strategy is to replicate the design of Hinkley Point C, using the majority of the same supply chain, but innovating in the way it is delivered to achieve savings in time and cost of around 20%. The CCO will need to be guided by and incorporate lessons learned from the Hinkley Point C commercial delivery to achieve Sizewell C’s ambition.

Following Financial Completion and Revenue Commencement, Sizewell C is fully funded and is owned by; The Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero representing HM Government, La Caisse, Centrica, EDF and Amber Infrastructure.

Job Purpose:

The ‘Category Manager – HR’ is responsible for identifying and delivering against agreed procurement strategies, predominantly within the Human Resources spend category. Nature and Scope:

As such the Category Manager is empowered to make decisions around the Principle Accountability areas, under the overall guidance of the Head of Procurement Practice & Indirects and in accordance with delegated levels of authority.

The Category Manager will be the primary point of commercial contact on the category(s) assigned to them and will be required to work closely and pro-actively with the other stakeholders at all levels and across all the teams within SZC to ensure that the requirements of the departments are met through the successful delivery of best value commercially robust contracts.

The Category Manager is responsible and accountable for:

The day to day management and support of Assistant Category Manager(s) and Category Assistant(s) within their Category, enabling growth within their roles.
Developing, implementing and delivering against long term category strategies which have been agreed with the business whilst ensuring delivery against SZC values and strategy.
Developing and leading on complex tender activities, from inception through to contract execution and implementation, through full end to end tender processes.

Principal Accountabilities:

The Category Manager is responsible for the end to end Procurement activities in relation to the Human Resources category. Whilst HR will be the main category, the Category Manager will also be responsible for other smaller categories within the Indirects space, which may include, but are not limited to one or more of the following: Marketing, PR, Comms’.

Responsible for analysing spend data, market data and trends and innovation, the Category Manager will be responsible for developing multi-year Category Strategy(s) in conjunction with the business stakeholders whilst also operating and advising the business and direct reports at a tactical and operational level on best practice Procurement and SZC governance.

The Category Manager will be proficient and experienced in leading complex tender activities, ensuring the tender outputs meet the business needs, through the delivery of robust comprehensive tenders, which are evaluated, negotiated and contracted whilst ensuring comprehensive contract management techniques are included within the resultant contract.

Growth within the team is an important consideration for SZC, therefore the Category Manager will be responsible for ensuring those within their ‘Category’ from Procurement are given the opportunity to grow in their role and to gain experience and knowledge in best practice Procurement, such that they can progress within the department should they want to.

Other responsibilities of the Category Manager include:

ITT preparation, evaluation and negotiation, ensuring that selected tenders are compliant with the scope and commercial requirements

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

The Role

As a People Partner, you’ll:

Be the first-point of contact for manager queries and employee enquiries at SZC

About You

We’re looking for someone with HR experience who is organised, confident and comfortable working with stakeholders across the business.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Security Architect to lead the design and governance of secure technology solutions across the Sizewell C organisation. Impact

As Assistant Project Manager you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of new business capabilities across Sizewell C (SZC) Nuclear New Builds by collaborating with the Project Manager and IT Programme Manager. They will contribute to Information Systems (IS) Projects and drive activities working according to baselined time, cost, and quality expectations.

As Assistant Project Manager you'll be expected to work pragmatically to make risk-based assessment on when to adhere completely to standards, procedures, and delivery methods and when to proposed controlled deviations to maximise the chance of a successful outcome for SZC. You will be expected to share your assessment with the Project Manager and escalate any emerging risks.

The successful candidate will engage actively with SZC Internal Departments to ensure compliance and understanding of business need and requirements.

The boundaries of the role are typically defined by the SZC Digital & IT’s governance structure including policies and procedures related to data management, technology procurement, and project management. The Assistant Project Manager must operate within these boundaries to ensure that their function aligns with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Principal Accountabilities

Contribute to the definition, planning, execution, and lead documentation of IS projects to baselined time, cost and quality expectations, according to agreed delivery methods and standards.
Develop the Project Initiation Document for Sponsor sign off that ensures effective estimation of cost, timescales, and resource requirements, including a detailed Quality Plan to create a ‘contract’ of expectations with the Project Sponsor.
Collaborate with delivery Partners to ensure that they submit robust and realistic detailed project plans to the Project Manager and support the review to enable critical path analysis, ensuring action is taken where these deviate from agreed tolerances, that resources are assigned to tasks for an optimum project delivery model, and that dependencies on other projects or external milestones are actively managed.
Support with the assurance and oversight of the effective management for project workstreams to agreed quality criteria throughout the project lifecycle including detailed design, build, test, technical cutover, training, communications, business readiness, deployment, post go-live support and project closure.
Support the management of project progress, scope, budget, risks, issues, resources, dependencies, stakeholders, vendors, and requirements throughout the project lifecycle, escalating to the Project Manager or Project Sponsor, as appropriate.
Support with the assurance of delivery Partners complying with agreed standards, procedures and delivery methods and ensuring commitments are identified, agreed, and delivered without impacting the project quality criteria.
Support with the assurance of the provision of accurate and timely reporting to the Project Board, PMO and SZC senior management as required.
Support with the assurance of the development and execution of a stakeholder engagement plan to manage relationships, ensuring buy-in, timely involvement and commitment of key stakeholders.
Interface with other members of the Portfolio delivery team to continuously identify and share the use of best practice.

Dimensions

The Assistant Project Manager reports into the Project Manager. They will work on multiple IS projects / programmes of any duration, complexity, criticality, and size (a typical project will fall between £50k and £15m and up to multiple years in duration).

What we’re looking for

The hiring team is looking for someone who really understands assurance, rather than someone with only adjacent risk or audit exposure.

Ideally, you’ll bring around 5 to 7 years’ relevant experience, alongside:

Strong experience across assurance, risk, controls, audit, governance, compliance or quality in a large, complex or regulated organisation
A strong working understanding of integrated assurance and the IIA Three Lines Model
Experience operating an assurance framework or enterprise-wide assurance planning process
Experience managing assurance plans or portfolios and coordinating multiple assurance providers
A strong understanding of risk-based assurance and how organisational objectives, risks, controls and assurance activity connect
Excellent stakeholder management, influencing and relationship building skills

As such the Commercial Manager is empowered to make decisions around the Principle Accountability areas, under the overall guidance of the Senior Commercial Manager and in accordance with delegated levels of authority.
As Commercial Manager you will be the primary point of commercial contact on the contract/s assigned to you and will you’ll be required to work closely and pro-actively with the other stakeholders at all levels and across all the teams within Nuclear New Build to ensure that the requirements of the individual contracts and their impact upon the overall SZC Project are successfully delivered.

You will be responsible and accountable for:

Key Site Operational based service contracts which are essential to the delivery of workforce needs, such as catering, accommodation, fixture furniture and equipment (FFE), personal protective equipment (PPE), and Facilities Management (FM).

You will typically be responsible for a contract or range of contracts between £0-£50m in value subject to level of risk or complexity. Contracts entered into are typically from the NEC Term Service Contract (TSC) suite, and managed on Cemar.

The day to day management of Assistant Commercial Assistants under your control.
Providing commercial management of contracts during the execution phase (post-award).
Commercial management for the delivery of contract final account agreements (close out).
Responsible for the delivery of the contract in accordance with SZC governance requirements to meet SZC Project and business objectives.
Professional development of self and people within the team.

Principal Accountabilities:

Execution Phase:

As Commercial Manager you’re responsible for the commercial administration of the contract during the execution phase including commercially leading and managing the contract/s to successful completion to maximise operational and financial performance and minimise commercial risk in order to help support the safe and cost effective delivery of SZC programme and business objectives. You’ll be responsible for knowing the contract including fundamental matters such as: Scope of Work / Services and Associated Programme; Prices and Rates Schedules; Key Personnel and Arrangements for Contract Administration, incentive arrangements along with administration of commercial management tools including, but not limited to, CEMAR and SAP.

You will work with collaborative behaviours, in a spirit of mutual trust and cooperation by ensure that the strategy for collaborative working is followed in terms of leading by example in establishing effective collaborative arrangements with all parties in the integrated team. The Commercial Lead will seek to achieve ‘win-win, equitable commercial outcomes for all parties. Contributing positively to the various collaborative working initiatives, team building activity and behavioural/relationship assessments and seek and act proactively and positively upon feedback on personal attitudes and behaviours, thereby adopting positive and proactive approaches to facilitate early commercial close out.

As Commercial Manager its your responsibility for ensuring that all commercial activities are conducted throughout execution of the contract in accordance with SZC Supply Chain Procedures including:

Participating in the contract kick-off meeting and organising the Supply Chain section of the meeting.
Commercially Administering the contract including; Notices and Instructions; Applications, Invoicing and Payment; Variations and Changes; Disputes and Claims; Delays, Extensions of Time, Force Majeure and Liquidated Damages; Bonds and Guarantees; Intellectual Property Rights; Termination; Progress Monitoring and Financial Reviews; Liabilities; Confidentiality Agreements; etc.
Management of the Accepted Programme.
Manage all commercial correspondence and contractual notices issued in accordance with the contract conditions and SZC Supply Chain Procedures.
Ensuring the timely production and administration of payment applications and invoices.

Ensuring contractual deliverables are met.

Leading contract commercial reviews and attending progress reviews where necessary.
Recommend mitigating actions on all commercial risk / claim events at the earliest possible time.
Implementing contract commercial / financial reporting and participating in periodic contract reviews.
Participating in contractor performance management.
Maintenance of Contract commercial files and cost records.

Leading commercial reviews of Contractors delivery and attending valuation, progress and risk reviews where necessary.

Closeout Phase:

Our Commercial Managers have responsibility and accountability for managing the close out phase of each contract including managing the contract Supply Chain Team in the implementation of the strategy for collaborative working by adopting a ‘One Team’ integrated approach with ‘parallel’ working rather than ‘serial’ working. At all times provide commercial support to the Project Manager in the effective delivery of the contract and ensuring formal Contract commercial completion and closure of all the Project Contracts and identification and recording of commercial lessons Learnt. At all times operate in accordance with IMS, rules, procedures to ensure that all contracts are administered within delegation of authority and the overall SZC governance / assurance regime.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

Strong communication skills are key, both written and verbal, to command professional respect at all levels
Educated to relevant A Level is preferable.
Able to demonstrate a noteworthy track record of administering successful contracts.
Effective commercial / contract management skills are essential, with clear knowledge of best practice contract methodologies.
Strong numerical skills, and commercial ability to make sound decisions on matters of financial value.
Understanding of contract performance measurement, risk management and change and claim management.
Familiarity with most common Forms of Contract (NEC) within the power construction industry and major projects and programme environment; with particular knowledge of UK Law and its impact upon the contract and commercial function is essential.
Good understanding of the UK regulatory framework.

The Sizewell C MEH Alliance is a project partnership responsible for the Mechanical, Electrical and HVAC (MEH) works on the Sizewell C nuclear power station, including the installation of piping, electrical systems, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems across the nuclear and conventional areas of the power station. The Sizewell C MEH Alliance is responsible for delivering the bulk of piping, HVAC and Electrical (Phase 1) as well as to perform the installation of equipment on Site (Phase 2).

We are currently in Phase 1 of the project which involves the design, procurement and delivery of mechanical, electrical and HVAC items on site. Delivery and Integration branch is responsible of preparing for Phase 2; this entails planning for construction, logistics and end to end schedule.

As an Industrial Placement student at Sizewell C, you will support the preparation of construction and develop full sequence from procurement to installation.

Your tasks will include:

Reviewing the sequence of Site activities per building (civil works, temporary works, installation, commissioning) aiming to define the conditions and timescales for the installation phase.

Working with various disciplines (piping, electrical, HVAC) to capture their sequence for engineering and procurement. Map out the maturity of the inputs (e.g. design, supply chain) and identify the related critical activities for the engineering, procurement, delivery sequence (Phase 1).

Based on site erection sequence and disciplines timescales, develop and recommend strategy to align procurement with site need dates for installation. Once strategy is adopted, liaise with the various disciplines for implementation and to procure material accordingly.

Conducting research and assessing data from Hinkley Point C and other similar projects to refine duration for different site installation activities. Working with the planning team and relevant SME to develop the site installation schedule for MEH scope of work

Anticipating, managing and resolving issues throughout the development of the sequence. Identify risks and facilitate the resolution of all issues raised, develop and update the plan, and escalate any issues to the Head of Integration
