Assistant Sourcing Manager (Bristol, GB, BS32 4TP)

Sizewell C’s business is to design, finance, construct, commission, operate, maintain, and eventually decommission the nuclear power plant and related infrastructure at Sizewell C in Suffolk. Overall, whilst the Company is in the construction phase, the Boards’ principal focus is on the development and construction of Sizewell C on time, on budget and to the highest quality and safety standards. The Company is maturing to meet all these requirements.

Sizewell C is economically regulated by OFGEM under the Regulated Asset Base (RAB) model similar to other UK electricity distribution networks and Thames Tideway.

Sizewell C construction strategy is to replicate the design of Hinkley Point C, using the majority of the same supply chain, but innovating in the way it is delivered to achieve savings in time and cost of around 20%. The CCO will need to be guided by and incorporate lessons learned from the Hinkley Point C commercial delivery to achieve Sizewell C’s ambition.

Following Financial Completion and Revenue Commencement, Sizewell C is fully funded and is owned by; The Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero representing HM Government, La Caisse, Centrica, EDF and Amber Infrastructure.

Assistant Sourcing Manager

Location: London, Bristol, Suffolk or Manchester, hybrid basis with travel required.

Expectation: for regular travel to London office (once per week) and Site office in Suffolk (every 4-6 weeks)

Contract: Permanent, full-time.

Your Impact

The purpose of the role is to support the Strategic Sourcing team implement category management approaches across Sizewell C (SZC) Site Delivery and the wider project. The role will be responsible for providing support and assistance to the team to develop category strategies and deliver sourcing requirements.

The Assistant Strategic Sourcing Manager will support proactive engagement with multi-disciplinary teams e.g. Project Managers, Finance, Legal and Project Controls to procure the requirements in accordance with Sizewell C’s Acquire Goods and Services (AGS) processes and procedures. Procurements values will range up to and may exceed £100m, therefore it is essential the Assistant Strategic Sourcing Manager is commercially astute and able to engage closely with all stakeholders to ensure the best value solution for the project.

Principal Accountabilities, Activities and Decisions

Reporting into the Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager, your accountabilities will include:

Assist with development of category strategies based on value and complexity, and which align to organisational priorities, market conditions and business needs
Support with the end-to-end procurement process, from Expression of Interest, Pre-Qualification Questionnaire, Invitation to Tender through to contract award, to deliver the category strategy outcomes with a particular focus on procurement delivery
Use of e-procurement platforms to manage all aspects of the end-to-end procurement process and ensure all associated records are maintained to a high standard
Assist with identifying cost reduction targets against addressable spend and ways to increase productivity/performance, innovation and efficiencies.
Assisting the team with identifying and delivering savings / efficiencies both in terms of cost and productivity
Play a part in contributing towards carbon reduction initiatives linked to opportunities highlighted in category strategies
Support the team with identifying ways to increase the use of social value and social enterprises where possible
Help to ensure the end-to-end procurement process adheres to the AGS and Signature of Contract (SOC) deadlines
Input into and undertake supply market analysis, investigating supply chain capability to highlight emerging innovations and improvement opportunities to assist with the development of category strategies
Carry out data collection and data analysis work in support of the role holder’s responsibilities including but not limited to supply market analysis, PQQ / ITT evaluation, Tender Event Schedule pipeline development
Support the Strategic Sourcing team with working in cross functional teams, engaging with colleagues in functions such as finance, legal, operations, technical, supply chain to assist in the development and delivery of procurement strategies and sourcing outcomes
Support the implementation of strategic Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) and supplier development to drive supplier performance improvement throughout the project.

Your Impact

About the role

Join Sizewell C as an Assistant Project Manager- Civils, supporting the delivery of major civil engineering works through the Civil Works Alliance (CWA).

Working within a highly collaborative Alliance environment (Sizewell C, Bouygues, Laing O’Rourke and Balfour Beatty), you will support the Project Manager / Senior Project Manager in coordinating engineering, supply chain, and construction activities across the programme.

You’ll work closely with key stakeholders including the Responsible Designer, EH&S, permits and consents, quality teams and suppliers, helping to prepare and deliver work packages safely, efficiently and to the required standards.

The Civils Programme spans a long-term delivery schedule and includes major enabling and earthworks, such as sea defences, site infrastructure, excavation, drainage and diaphragm walling- critical to supporting the wider plant construction across the Nuclear, Conventional and Heat Sink islands.

You will provide strategic and practical legal advice on all land matters for the Sizewell C nuclear new build project. You will also support Sizewell C in delivering against its planning requirements, advising on compliance with the terms of its DCO, DoO and any other relevant planning permissions, working closely with the planning legal counsel.

You will work closely with internal stakeholders (particularly the land, planning and delivery teams), external advisors, government bodies, and landowners to support the timely, efficient and compliant delivery of the project.

About You

We are looking for a qualified solicitor or barrister (England & Wales) with significant post-qualification experience in planning, infrastructure, property or environmental law.

You will also have:

The Nuclear Safety Case Engineer is a key role within the Sizewell C Design Authority, reporting directly to the Safety Case Group Lead. This position offers the opportunity to play a central role in the development and delivery of the project’s nuclear safety case strategy.

About the Role

Join Sizewell C as a Project Manager - Civils, delivering major heavy‑civils work packages within one of the UK’s most significant low‑carbon infrastructure projects. Reporting to a Senior Project Manager, you will lead full lifecycle delivery: engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, to budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Scope Integration: Manage interfaces with Engineering, CI Programme, PMO, Commercial, Quality, and Supply Chain to assure design maturity, constructability, and progressive assurance.
Risk & Change: Own risk register and change control for CI scope; ensure transparent escalation and evidence-based decision-making.
People Leadership: Lead a team of SZC Senior PMs/PMs and matrix functional support; set performance expectations and build delivery capability.
Commercial & Contracts: Support procurement strategies, alliance commercial mechanisms, adjustment events within the alliancing framework.
Stakeholder Management: Engage with CWP leadership and wider SZC stakeholders; prepare and present clear delivery reporting and readiness reviews.
Handover & Readiness: Ensure progressive assurance, completions, and documentary readiness to handover CI structures and components.

Contextual Information

The Sizewell C (SZC) construction programme is built around a technical and commercial business case that relies on intelligent replication of Hinkley Point C (HPC). This approach leverages mature design data, established engineering solutions, supply chain capability, and lessons learned from HPC to reduce FOAK complexity, accelerate delivery, and improve productivity.

EDF’s established UK nuclear capability is a critical contributor to this strategy, providing design, engineering, assurance, and construction expertise that underpins SZC’s ability to replicate, adapt and execute safely.

The SZC Civil Works Programme (CWP) comprises three major sub‑programmes delivered over a 10‑year period:

The Main Civil Works (MCW) includes the Conventional Island (CI), Nuclear Island and Heat Sink Island scopes, with each scope delivered through integrated alliance teams combining SZC (Owner Participants) and Alliance Partners.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience

Track record of delivering projects within a technically complex and dynamic environment whilst ensuring high levels of safety, security, and environmental responsibility, ideally within the Nuclear Energy sector or similar regulated environment.
Demonstrate success in managing / developing:

Engineering design and field execution strategies for project delivery,
Procurement and management of complex commercial arrangements,
Multi-discipline EPCM projects,

Experience of managing / influencing contractors, consultants and other advisors throughout large and complex construction projects.
Control of costs; risk; schedule and change and proficient.
Experience of successfully engaging groups of stakeholders.
Able to demonstrate strong management skills including project management, financial management, change management and facilitation. Proficient in the use of estimating scheduling, programming and risk tools.
Experience of managing contractors, consultants and other advisors throughout large and complex construction projects, in a regulated environment.
Experience of working within Alliances and Joint Ventures
