Risk Analyst
Sizewell C’s business is to design, finance, construct, commission, operate, maintain, and eventually decommission the nuclear power plant and related infrastructure at Sizewell C in Suffolk. Overall, whilst the Company is in the construction phase, the Boards’ principal focus is on the development and construction of Sizewell C on time, on budget and to the highest quality and safety standards. The Company is maturing to meet all these requirements.
Sizewell C is economically regulated by OFGEM under the RAB model similar to other UK electricity distribution networks and Thames Tideway.
Sizewell C construction strategy is to replicate the design of Hinkley Point C, using the majority of the same supply chain, but innovating in the way it is delivered to achieve savings in time and cost of around 20%. The CCO will need to be guided by and incorporate lessons learned from the Hinkley Point C commercial delivery to achieve Sizewell C’s ambition.
Following Financial Completion and Revenue Commencement, Sizewell C is fully funded and is owned by; The Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero representing HM Government, La Caisse, Centrica, EDF and Amber Infrastructure.

Risk Analyst
Location: Based in London on a hybrid basis with travel to Suffolk as required.
Contract: Permanent, full-time.
Salary: Starting at circa £56,000 dependant on experience, plus benefits
Benefits:
- Annual Leave: 28 days per annum, increasing to 30 days after 5 years of service, plus bank holidays.
- Bonus: 5% annual bonus.
- Pension Contributions: Defined Contribution Pension Scheme with up to 7.5% employee contribution 15% employer contribution.

Overview
The ongoing and rapid evolution of the SZC organisation and approaching future milestones mean that the Risk Management team is evolving quickly. In order to provide ongoing assurance to key stakeholders a new Risk Analyst is required.
This new role reports to the Strategic Risk Lead within Sizewell C’s (SZC) Integrated Risk Team and brings a unique opportunity to help engage, develop and implement a Risk Management framework within an exciting and fast-moving environment.
Due to the evolving nature of the organisation the Risk Analyst will be required to investigate, assess and provide informative advice regarding SZC’s Strategic, Portfolio and Corporate risks. Therefore, this role will involve interaction with all seniority levels at the SZC organisation.
The Integrated Risk Team forms part of SZC’s Integrated Assurance Strategy (IAS) and the Integrated Assurance and Approvals Plan (IAAP) and is therefore a key component in our ‘Three Lines of Defence’ (3LoD) Model.
Principal Accountabilities
- Help support the establishment of an effective Risk Appetite within the business. Embedding a practical approach to Risk Appetite which influences strategy and operational activities.
- Maintain, track and report Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) in line with risk appetite. Established leading and lagging indicators which can effectively demonstrate changing exposures.
- Help to populate and manage Risk Registers. Creating live view (within the Risk System) on the risks and controls in place across the business.
- Help the risk team to provide regular updates on the risk profile of the business. Ensuring the business has standardised and regular management reports on the risk profile of the business.
- Help to organise Deep Dives into requested specific risk topics. Allowing the business to have an enhanced view of new and emerging risks and how these will impact.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Knowledge:
- You will have working knowledge of strategic and operational risk management processes, frameworks and practices (e.g. ISO 31000).
- You will have an understanding of the UK Government ‘The Orange Book’ requirements and applicability to Sizewell C.
- You will demonstrate understanding of risk types and the importance of risk management across all corporate functional areas.
- You will have an informed and up to date view on the risk and trends facing the energy sector and wider society.
Skills:
- You will have the ability to challenge, identify, assess and report on current or emerging risks, sometimes with limited information.
- You will be highly organised, with an ability to plan, co-ordinate, and deliver on required workstreams / projects.
- You will have good interpersonal skills, able to deal effectively with queries and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- You will have excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in all areas of work. You will be comfortable working ‘hands on’ within the wider risk team.
- You will be able to propose solutions and to act independently with confidence to effectively challenge the status quo.
- You will be competent in using Microsoft Office packages (primarily Outlook, Excel & PowerPoint). Experience of Risk Management Information Systems (RMIS) would be highly advantageous.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Proven experience in a similar role. Experience of working in the Energy sector or similarly regulated industry would be highly advantageous.
- You will have a Risk Management qualification or demonstrable equivalent experience.
- You will have experience of engaging with and presenting to a range of stakeholders on an individual and committee basis.
- You will be a good communicator and effective influencer.
