Data Integration Lead

Sizewell C’s business is to design, finance, construct, commission, operate, maintain, and eventually decommission the nuclear power plant and related infrastructure at Sizewell C in Suffolk. Overall, whilst the Company is in the construction phase, the Boards’ principal focus is on the development and construction of Sizewell C on time, on budget and to the highest quality and safety standards. The Company is maturing to meet all these requirements.

Sizewell C is economically regulated by OFGEM under the Regulated Asset Base (RAB) model similar to other UK electricity distribution networks and Thames Tideway.

Sizewell C construction strategy is to replicate the design of Hinkley Point C, using the majority of the same supply chain, but innovating in the way it is delivered to achieve savings in time and cost of around 20%. The CCO will need to be guided by and incorporate lessons learned from the Hinkley Point C commercial delivery to achieve Sizewell C’s ambition.

Following Financial Completion and Revenue Commencement, Sizewell C is fully funded and is owned by; The Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero representing HM Government, La Caisse, Centrica, EDF and Amber Infrastructure.

Sizewell C is entering an exciting phase of growth as we mature into an independent organisation and continue building one of the UK’s largest and most important energy projects. We are now recruiting the below position.

Data Integration Lead

Location: Based in London, Bristol, Manchester or Suffolk, hybrid working pattern.    

Contract: Permanent, full-time. 

Salary:  Circa £66,500 per annum, depending on experience.

Impact:

As Data Integration Lead, you will own and govern the existing integration strategy, standards and patterns for SZC and our supply chain, ensuring that the integrations we build and operate are API led, efficient, robust and secure. You will work closely with business stakeholders, solution architects, data architects, cyber security, service management, suppliers and the ICoE to translate business requirements into clear integration specifications, technically assure delivered integrations, prioritise new integration requests and ensure integrations are reusable, secure, supportable and future-proof.

As part of your role, you will deliver:

Integration Strategy & Standards

• Own, maintain and evolve SZC’s existing API-led integration strategy, standards, principles and reusable integration patterns.
• Apply SZC integration patterns to determine the appropriate integration approach for each use case, including MuleSoft, SAP Integration Suite/BTP, Azure Integration Services, native system integrations and zero-copy patterns.
• Document the rationale for integration pattern decisions, including business requirements, cost, architectural fit and operational support.
• Ensure integration solutions follow API-led, standards-based, secure, reusable and operationally supportable design principles.
• Promote reuse of existing APIs, services, patterns and integration components to reduce duplication, delivery cost and technical debt.
• Act as a neutral party, determining if digital integrations are appropriate when a business process change or a manual approach could yield better results more cost-effectively depending on the use case.
• Ensure new requests are independently assessed with the ICoE lead architect for adherence to the approved SZC integration strategy and for any deviations, agreed and captured with supporting rationale within the integration strategy

Integration Service & Delivery

• Oversee the Integration Centre of Excellence (ICoE) delivery lifecycle from early engagement through to requirements capture, estimation, design, build, test, production implementation and enduring support.
• Translate business and technical requirements into clear high-level integration specifications that can be worked up and then delivered by the ICoE, internal teams or suppliers.
• Review ICoE assumptions, dependencies, delivery plans and cost estimates to support integration funding approval.
• Provide independent technical review of Integration Specifications, supplier-built and ICoE-built integrations for quality, security, supportability, performance and architectural alignment before release.

Integration Catalogue & Planning

• Own and manage SZC’s integration catalogue, covering live, planned and proposed system-to-system and system-to-data platform integrations.
• Triage and prioritise new integration requests based on business value, urgency, architectural fit, approved pattern alignment, delivery complexity, security considerations, cost and capacity. This will include liaison with the ICoE lead architect
• Identify duplicate, overlapping or inconsistent integration requests and steer stakeholders towards reusable services or approved patterns.
• Track the integration pipeline, dependencies, risks, blockers and delivery progress across SZC and partner organisations.
• Work with the Architecture team to ensure all system integrations are modelled accurately in the Enteprise Architecture tooling

Integration Security & Governance

• Ensure integration designs meet SZC security, access control, data protection, auditability and operational support expectations.
• Apply secure-by-design principles across APIs, data flows, credentials, certificates, secrets, access policies, integration runtimes and monitoring.
• Ensure integrations include appropriate monitoring, alerting, logging & traceability before go-live.
• Define and assure operational support requirements for all live integrations.
• Ensure exceptions from approved integration patterns are documented, justified and escalated through the appropriate governance route.

Stakeholder Engagement & Adoption

• Act as the primary point of contact for integration requests, guidance and prioritisation across business and technology teams.
• Communicate integration principles, decisions and trade-offs clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Work with project managers, business analysts, architects, suppliers and system owners to shape integration requirements early in the delivery lifecycle.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience

This position is well-suited for candidates with a background in integration architecture or enterprise application integration, who excel at translating business needs into secure, scalable, reusable and supportable integration solutions. Candidates should have experience of Enterprise Integration technologies, such as MuleSoft / SAP Integration Services / Microsoft Azure Integration Services, strong knowledge of API-led integration, and practical experience governing or assuring enterprise integrations in complex environments. They should be comfortable working across business, architecture, data, cyber security, supplier and service management teams, and able to balance strategy ownership with practical delivery and technical assurance.

Technical Skills:

• Experience designing, building and supporting integrations using technologies such as MuleSoft Anypoint Platform.
• Deep understanding of API-led connectivity, REST APIs, event-driven integration, batch integration, ETL/ELT patterns and synchronous/asynchronous integration approaches.
• Experience producing integration specifications, interface designs, data mappings, transformation logic, API contracts and non-functional requirements.
• Knowledge of API lifecycle management, including API design, documentation, versioning, throttling, access control, monitoring, service discovery and deprecation.
• Experience defining & manging enterprise integration strategy, patterns & standards
• Experience with integration security, including authentication, authorisation, secrets management, certificate management, encryption and data protection.
• Understanding of integration observability, including logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, exception handling, dead-letter queues, error recovery and operational dashboards.
• Familiarity with Azure integration patterns, including Azure Service Bus, Azure Functions, Azure API Management, Azure Data Factory and Azure Databricks.
• Familiarity with SAP integration patterns, including SAP BTP and SAP Integration Suite.

Qualifications & Experience

• Proven experience as an Integration Lead, Integration Architect or similar role.
• Experience with integration design and delivery using Major Enterprise Integration Middleware such as MuleSoft.
• Experience designing and delivering enterprise integrations in production environments.
• Experience translating business requirements into integration specifications, interface designs and technical designs.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Data or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Desirable

• MuleSoft certification, such as MuleSoft Certified Developer or MuleSoft Certified Integration Architect.
• Experience with Azure Integration Services, Azure Service Bus, Azure Functions, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks or Azure API Management.
• Experience with SAP BTP or SAP Integration Suite.
• Experience working in infrastructure, construction, energy, nuclear or other regulated environments.
• Experience working with third-party suppliers, managed service providers or outsourced delivery teams.
