Sizewell C Nuclear Business Graduate

If you are looking to kick start a career that is rewarding, where you can really make a difference, then come join our Nuclear Business Graduate Programme. You will work on one of the most exciting and significant sustainable energy projects that our country has ever seen, being at the forefront of the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy. Sizewell C is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for at least 60 years

The Opportunity

Launch your business career with our customised 2-year training programme! You will rotate through exciting placements that are designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to succeed.

You will learn from our experts, gain valuable experience, build your confidence and have the support of a career line manager and placement manager, mentor and buddy throughout your time on the programme.

What You Will Be Doing

As a Nuclear Business Graduate at Sizewell C, you will gain hands-on experience, develop technical and professional skills, and contribute to meaningful projects that support the UK’s journey to net zero.

Sizewell C Workforce & Skills (EAU) is a function within the People Directorate that provides leadership, governance and assurance across the project People Requirements, ensuring that we have the people, skills, culture and employment frameworks necessary to achieve safe, productive and successful delivery of the project.

Based within the Workforce Contract Performance team in the Workforce & Skills (EAU) function, you can expect to work with key stakeholders across the project and its supply chain on activities designed to ensure:

  • Our People Requirements are incorporated into each stage of our procurement processes and embedded in all new contract awards as required

  • Contractors have a detailed understanding of our People Requirements and the level of contribution they will be required to make in support of the project’s People related targets and commitments

  • Contractors develop and maintain adequate plans to deliver against these requirements, commitments and targets

  • Contractor performance against plan is monitored, with variance identified and acted upon as part of regular contractor performance management activity

  • Delivery of planned activity supports the delivery of the wider project People Requirements

Day to day activities should therefore be expected to be quite wide ranging. A typical day could see you:

  • Working with colleagues in our commercial and sustainability teams to review and score contractor tender responses

  • Joining a Contractor Mobilisation meeting on behalf of the EAU to confirm if a Contractor has met all our pre-requisites before commencing work on site

  • Supporting colleagues to deliver an introductory briefing to new contractors, introducing the role of the EAU and ensuring shared understanding of contract deliverables

  • Analysing performance data to assess Contractor performance against key metrics in preparation for a monthly contractor performance management review meeting

  • Providing feedback into a regular Process Review meeting to support EAU continuous improvement activity

At the end of the graduate programme, we’ll support you in deciding how you want to progress your career within Sizewell C.

Your work location

Whilst you will be based at at Orwell Logistics Park, Ipswich with placements of up to 6 months, you may also be required to travel to another location for your placements, to support other business units and to expand your knowledge and experience of the Nuclear Industry.

#EarlyCareers

When joining Sizewell C, you may wonder why you are contacted by colleagues with an EDF email or see the EDF logo on portals that you access and/or documentation you receive; this is because we have partnered with EDF for the provision of a number of support services whilst we complete a successful transition out of the EDF group.

At Sizewell C we encourage and embrace diversity and how it can improve our experience and performance at work. It is a requirement that those who join us have the right to work in the UK. Whilst sponsorship may be a possibility that we can explore, we are fully committed to local recruitment where possible, and those already holding the right to work in the UK.

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.
